Day 1: The Journey Begins
I was walking to my Airbnb rental when I took this next video. I have been messaging my host in Spanish, which has been fine in writing – but when he left me voice notes and I had trouble understanding what he was saying, I suddenly felt stuck and vulnerable. (another) Confession – since I grew up speaking Hebrew, I’ve never had to learn a foreign language in order to function somewhere – it’s always been a hobby. Now I understand what new olim go through!
