is a pair of words
consisting of two words in the masculine
that look as if they are feminine
שירות ends in the letter ת
and usually when we see ת at the end
especially when it’s וּת-
we tend to think that the word is feminine
but the ת here in שירות
is part of the root
ש.ר.ת
and therefore the word is masculine
in the same form that the word דיבור – speech is masculine
to speak speech, to serve service
לקוחות – customers, ends in וֹת- in the plural
even though in the singular the word is לקוח
there’s also לקוחה – a female customer
but when we talk about customer service
we talk about the service of a (male) customer, in the plural
and even though there’s וֹת- at the end of the word
the singular form is what determines the grammatical gender of the word
and the singular form is לקוח, which is masculine
and therefore לקוחות is also masculine
